I was debt-free and about to purchase a house before this scum sent a council tax bill from ten years ago owing from former housemates. After complaining, it transpires that they haven't tried to contact me since 2010 and even then, it was one letter to an address I departed a year before. Despite being the first contact from them and the first time I was aware of an outstanding bill, they were rude, offensive and refused a payment plan whilst I got this investigated. They also refused to acknowledge former housemates' liability and demanded a third extra in fees, they also said I was solely liable despite having letters from 2008 confirming tenants' names! I know I paid council tax, unfortunately for me, I had joint tenants who did not. Council also charged me twice for council tax at two properties, despite having me registered at a new property and wanted me to pay 2000 for less than a year at the property!!!! I have had bailiffs threaten to remove goods from my property, even though I had no contact that there was an outstanding balance and I've been stuck paying a fortune for tax on a property from 2008 that was meant to be jointly liable. Said bailiffs have also charged me double the fees. They have caused me a great deal of stress and although I have paid the council tax bill off, I am still stuck paying their ridiculous fees (twice charged for one council tax account!) and I have now lost the house of my dreams. All in all, I wish that the council would be shut down and their staff imprisoned, because what they are doing is utterly criminal. F**K YOU.
Very unhelpful and sneaky. We moved into a property in Worthing as students and informed the council giving us exemption on council tax, on moving out we also honestly informed them that wed be doing so a week earlier from when our tenancy would end, and in return they refrained from telling us that our exemption would not apply and we were charged for not being in the property even though we were still paying rent for it. Extremely unfair, untrustworthy and deceitful. Money is clearly their only priority.
Cllr Edward Crouch, rather than basking in your own farts (5* review...) how about generating some real positive reviews for the Council. It is clear the council is disconnected from the community. Greed has got the better of it, rather than building more attractions for tourists we are wasting two great spots (aquarena & teville gate) with properties that no one can afford and Worthing is one of the lowest paying towns in the UK!, maybe once things like this are dealt with i will up my star rating. This town has so much potential, but as always the greed of few out weighs the need of the many.

Phoned at 9:25 and was told to go in. Was a also told it was a walk in and I would be seen this morning. I arrived shortly before 10 to two people waiting to be seen to be told to come back this afternoon. I think this is the most unfriendly and unhelpful CAB I have ever had the displeasure to deal with
