Built early seventies, this centre is now dead on its feet. Was vibrant, and Worthing's pride and joy when built, now in its very sedate 'old' age. All the good shops are long gone. They've closed-off the upstairs gallery (where there used to be a pub) and the fountain has also been removed. Would have been demolished years ago were it not for the (leaking) flats above the centre, which guarantee a continuing 'zombie' existence to the centre.
This needs bulldozing. Realistically shouldn't really have been built in the first place as I'm sure some really lovely civic buildings were knocked down at the time. The pre-existing buildings would now be an asset to Worthing - unlike the Guildbourne Centre in its current state.
Good shops here. Wilco. Butchers. Lighting. Cheap perfume. Bag and suitcase shop. Cafe.
Please help this place. Such a great spot for contemporary shops but looks like something from Fallout 4 (PS4) upstairs is shut completely and hardly anyone goes in because the downstairs shops have so little to offer. If you don't want meat, toys or suitcases you're stuffed. Needs investment, decorating and attraction and the thousands of footfall outside would happily come in. Such a wasted opportunity.
Visited Guildbourne Cafe - lovely food, good coffee and you can sit in or out in the light and airy Centre. Great friendly cheerful helpful staff. Love it!
